The congregation has always had a strong commitment to Christian education. Shortly after being organized as a congregation it called it’s first teacher , Christoph Henry Brase to teach elementary school. The school continued operation for 141 years, 1865 to 2006. In 2006, the congregation decided to broaden its support for Christian education by consolidating it’s elementary school with the larger Lutheran School at St’ Paul’s in Concordia, Missouri The congregation continues to provide the funds for the Christian elementary education for the children of it’s members and supplements the tuition expense for high school students attending St Paul High School, just 4 miles from Holy Cross in Emma.

 Music has been an important part of the church life at Holy Cross with choir, school children, and congregational singing with beautiful music.  Periodically the worship services have special music using the talents of congregational members and talented people from the community.

Our mission efforts include support for Lutheran Church Missouri Synod world wide missions and numerous special projects over the years that support various ministry efforts in our community, in our country and around the world.

Involvement and Christian growth of the members of the congregation spans activities like Bible Study, Men's Club, Dorcas, Braille, Youth Group, and Choir.  The management of the congregational affairs is completed by various church officers, boards and committees with oversight by the Voters Assembly.

We have recently reaffirmed our faith in our Lord by crafting a longer term "Vision" and specific "Priorities" for our congregation. Trusting in HIS guidance, these priorities will set our future agenda as a congregation
